Swiss Chalet Road (LRIP Project)
Swiss Chalet is one of the oldest roadways in the township (surface age) with sigificant deterioration. This roadway also had significant vehicular counts per day. This section of roadway was pulverized and re-paved in May of 2023 with a portion of the funding through the WisDOT LRIP program.
2023 Cadle Road Flooding
Cadle Road experienced some flooding in the Spring of 2023 that casued some serious issues with culverts on this section of roadway. There will be funding applied for to replace these culverts
2021
About 2,000 feet of Hilltop Rd continues to deteriorate largely because of high water in the wetlands on each side. The shoulders are sinking and the blacktop breaking up in addition to the flooding of about 400 ft following snow melt or heavy rains. Beaver compound the problem when they continue to plug the culverts. In November an excavator was brought in to remove all the brush, mud and other debris in hopes of mitigating problems next spring.
Sawyer Creek Road
A major project for Bashaw this summer was completion of the blacktopping project on Sawyer Creek Road. The project began a year ago when soft spots were dug out and filled with gravel. Following that 4-6 inches of new gravel was put down and the entire road bed was ground up, graded out and left to compact over winter. The blacktop was put down this spring..
Little Long Lake Boat Landing Acces
The public access on the south side of Little Long Lake has long been in need of a face lift. The road in was nothing more than muddy ruts, the stairway down to the water was mostly gone and the bank down had eroded seriously out into the lake. With technical assistance from the Washburn County Land and Water Conservation staff and 50% cost sharing from the County since it was an erosion control project.
The very first person to use the new access on Little Long Lake. He came just as the crew had finished the last work on the project. He is from Eau Claire but had grown up on the opposite side of the lake and said that he comes back to kayak and fish whenever he can. He was delighted to see the improvements!
